Our mission today was finding street art, exploring the city and find a few Banksy’s hidden around the city. Also along the river is a huge Bristol festival.
Google Maps always is challenging…this way, no turn, this way, no turn around and makes us use &?(&&@!?,,($&”@$ words not for prime time blog posts 🤪. I’m calling it a “wild googler chase”.
We found a VERY interesting neighborhood with explosive wall art and graffiti and tags and my city girl radar was on high alert. It was Sunday morning so it was quiet, which we didn’t mind one bit.
This was so colorful. A young gent was coming out of the building with a huge smile and greeting. Where are ye from? We chatted a bit, he was a student and thrilled that he could get student housing for 3 nights for a hundred quid!!

One being created on this beautiful morning

Our first Banksy 💥 “the well hung lover”

We walked back through the city center to find two more Banksy’s and on the way we discovered Wallace & Grommit are from Bristol

Lots of activity on the waterfront for families and the kid in all of us

Even a pirate ship

We found #2 Banksy the girl with the pearl…

Took a water taxi across the river to find #3 the Cat

The boat captain

Google map issues again another walk after realizing we didn’t need to cross that river, there’s another river soooooo let’s enjoy the city.

We’re back on track and we see it

Now it’s time for some posing

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
We look up the street and see these lights outside a really old building. Jeff looks in and it is a pub & asks the bartender if he can turn on The Open to watch the final round. “Of course” and he welcomes us in and tells us the pub has been there since 1748. His family has owed it for 50 years, and he’s proud of it and the decorum and beer garden out back.

His Dad loved to collect (obviously). He showed the zippo lighters (wow) collection and pulled down his favorites of the hundreds

It is ALWAYS about the people you meet and talk to along the adventure.
We were cheering for Tommy Fleetwood or Sam Burns and he agreed with the first!

Tomorrow we’re off to Stonehenge
