Train Travel Day

The Danish engineers are so smart. I had to put one last photo of the pram with a footstool and seat for the kids not in the carriage. It is brilliant. Another thing they do is take babies out and about early and often. If the parents need to run in a store they’ll leave the wee ones outside to get used to surrounding noises. If the babies get fussy someone will tend to the baby til the parents return. This is is a big city, with a huge heart.

The world could learn from the Danes

We hit a wee snag with our footloose & fancy free train traveling. We bought an unlimited Eurail Pass for the month but didn’t reserve getting out of Scandinavia. The app kept saying error but that means “full!” So the terrific train guy at the Copenhagen train service office booked us to Bremen Germany. Not on the speedy first class were used to, but with 4 separate train legs and one on a packed local train but, missing Hamburg city. It’s ALL good. I even rode backwards a few times & didn’t barf. We learned it’s time to do some planning & booking because we are now on mainland Europe and travelers are everywhere.

What a great way to start the day; they were outside out B&B when we left
Jeff said “no way it’s sacrilegious to drink DD in Denmark”
But it’s my new favorite city, if only Greg was here
Long day ahead – trains to Kobenhavn (9:50 – 12:02) to Fredericia (12:30 – 13:53) to Fiensburg (14:15 – 16:10) to Hamburg Dammtor (16:38 – 17:41) and finally to Bremen Hbf

We made it and devoured a wonderful sandwich from the Train Bistro in 1st Class. The last train was ICE and we’re each other’s ICE so a perfect end to train travel to country #5…

Is the ONLY way to train travel

We left the station found a cab, loaded our bags & showed him the address. He pointed across the street and said there’s your hotel.

Ahhhhh
