Luxembourg

Historical treasures, breathtaking views, a rich cultural and architectural life, large parks where you can enjoy life, this is a summary of Luxembourg City.

Nothing better than starting the day with a farmers market. Fresh veggies, fruit, pastries, breads, cheese and even roasted chickens.

Happiness is fresh bread

A beautiful quiet walk to the city center. We always start early enough to miss the crowds.

Often called “the most beautiful balcony of Europe” it runs along the Alzette valley on the ramparts – built by the Spaniards and the French in the 17th century – from the Bock Promontory up to the lower part of the Holy Ghost Citadel, the so-called “Rondellen”.

Just wandering around the city, it’s worth keeping your eyes open for hidden gems.

Outside the Bank Museum, a statue of the image found on 1924 2 Franc coins. He’s a puddler (Feierstëppler) at work, symbol of the Luxembourgish steel industry surrounded by the legend (Bon Pour), face value and mint year at the bottom. In the background blast furnaces.

Pescatore Park is one of the many green spaces throughout the city.

The Pfaffenthal glass elevator connects the “Pescatore” park located in the city centre to the Pfaffenthal area at the bottom of the Alzette valley. The ride in the glass elevator features sweeping views (71m high) for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Using the elevator is free of charge.

The skies were darkening, so we grabbed some fresh raviolis filled with spinach for dinner to end our day before the rain started.
