Day-13 A New Friend

Ok, it’s Sunday June 1, 2025; our bags are all packed and set outside our door at the hotel for 9:00am pickup. It’s just a short walk to board the bus that will take us to the ship. You can bet I had my eyes on our bags until I saw them get put on the truck that was taking them to the ship.

Everyone received a sticker to identify them as part of the Viking group, so we stickered up before heading for our walk to the bus.

OK, who can’t put their sticker on right!

Check-in at the ship was a breeze and we were all swiftly aboard. We couldn’t get into the room until 2-ish since they were placing everyone’s bags in their rooms for them.

So, we did what all cruisers do, and headed for the buffet for lunch!! Oh my, so much to pick from! I’d better sign up for every hiking excursion if I expect to ever lose any weight!

It didn’t take us much time to settle into our room and we made a beeline for the laundry; after 11 days riding around the whole island, just about everything we brought with us needed a good wash. While we waited for that to finish, it was a good time to get oriented.

We met in the lounge at the front of the ship to watch our departure. I guessed that was as a good a time as any to introduce our newest member of the group, who through a consensus where some alcohol was involved, is now named ‘Péter’ the penguin from Perlan.

Péter from Perlan

I think it’s time Kermit had a traveling buddy, and he’s easy to have along – no whining, dietary requirements, bags, or clothes to pack! Great to have you along with us Péter.

We turned in early, eager for our next adventure. Our first stop will be Ísafjördur, a small village on the North side of Iceland, and our last touch of Iceland before we head to Norway.
