Up and ready to walking to the DAC and BLOC to learn about Danish Architecture. They are all about the environment, the future for generations to come and repurposing everything from old buildings to homes to revitalizing villages lost.

We don’t have much space. But we live big.
Don’t scar the land beneath us
Listen very carefully
Look ahead to 2050 and revitalize everything possible especially deserted villages.
Build houses where houses already exist.
Prepare the world for our kids
The most sustainable buildings are the ones already in place. We are beyond impressed with their strong understanding of what’s needed for the people and for mother earth, to stop throwing it all away but to repurpose & rebuild. The EU also gets it and has plans. If only the USA would wake up before it’s too late. The climate deniers need to travel. The haters need to travel. We need to prepare the world for the future, our children and their children.

The movies and exhibits were incredible. They had a room with a timeline from the 1400’s to current. They have amazing design talents all the way to furniture and toys for the wee ones.

Enjoying a walk to a special museum…that is needed today after knowing we have work to repurpose “things” when we get back.

As we’ve mentioned Denmark is one of the happiest countries in the world and every moment we’re learning why. It’s amazing…
It might just be for tourists because we can all use more of it 😊 and they want to spread the JOY.

Walking around the museum had lots of reminders, cool signs and sayings, a place for a bear hug, a huge room to write a note and add it to the wall of 😊. Watch a movie about companies using smiles to spread happiness and of course sell stuff.

“Do an act of kindness today make one person smile.” Easy task today!!

So we’re walking down Straget Street and look who we run into…

We caught up, between “small world” laughs and heard about their amazing travels. Off to explore with one very important stop at the end of our day.

(Guinness world record tallest man)
Jeff ran to the grocery store, and Kermie wanted to try the local Carlsburg beer.

Jeff looked up the best chocolate shops in town and it turns out there is one just around the corner we from where we’re staying! It’s a little basement shop at Bregade 14, Copenhagen that has been around almost 100yrs, called Alida Marstrand.
In 1930, Alida was a young woman that had to overcome huge obstacles. She was married with 5 children when her husband died suddenly. She grieved deeply but had to feed her children. She grabbed her husband’s wallet and took matters into her own hands. While walking the streets of Copenhagen in despair she was hit on the head by a For Sale sign, and instead of cultivating a headache she counted her coins and soon became the proud owner of a basement shop located a stones throw from the royal palace.
She produced & sold the most exquisite chocolates ever seen. Even the Queen hopped off her throne to enjoy these beautiful treats.
Over the years she worked hard, fought a world war, survived and taught her skills to her daughter who then took over. The next years the tradition was carried to the sixth and present owner, Gunhild Perrson, a pastry chef and chocolatier. We visited and had a lovely chat with her yesterday and tasted samples, as she detailed what was in each, hand-decorated, piece. Chocolate heaven and a beautiful end to the day.

One more day then we’re off to Germany 🇩🇪
