We’ve loved our time in Ballybunion on the fabulously wild Atlantic side of Ireland. Today we say bye to Ballybunion and hello to Killarney.

On the way we stopped on Ballyduff for a visit to the Rattoo round tower and burial grounds.

On to Killarney with sunshine, bluest of blue skies and the rolling hills and farmlands are bursting in green.
In case you haven’t been, I can best describe Ireland as a box of 64 Crayola crayons in ALL greens.

Killarney is on the northeastern shore of Lough Leane, part of Killarney National Park, and is home to St Mary’s Cathedral, Ross Castle, Muckross Houseand Abbey, the Lakes of Killarney, MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, Purple Mountain, Mangerton Mountain, Paps Mountain, the Gap of Dunloe and Torc Waterfall. Its natural heritage, history and location on the Ring of Kerry make Killarney a popular tourist destination.

The first meet up is outside the entrance to the National park. Father O’Flarhety from the movie we watched just the other night.

But first ☕️

We took a quick tour of the town and a short glimpse of the gardens before we can check in.

Will explore the park tomorrow

Took a drive to Mourne Abbey to see the Kennedy-Sexton clan. A slight 🐄 traffic delay

Greeted with the tail end of a 🌈

Orla fixed a fab meal and we had a really nice catch up. How did we not get a family photo??? 😜 Must have been our full tummies and lively conversations. We did get a cat fix, sweet evening.

Drove home in the rain and wow is it dark on these windy country roads. Safe & sound and excited to explore this colorful vibrant city.
