Long travel day. So, how about we start the day with a nice breakfast in our Cafe Casino with the best coffee.
Hop a train from Salamanca to Madrid Chamartín train station.
The station is under a massive renovation. Nowhere to hang here so we’re off to our next station Madrid Atocha station.
Taxi!!!
We have a 4 hour delay and this station is also under massive renovation . There are no benches only places in the small cafes; cannot find any place to sit. Finally, Jeff finds one and we park there until it’s time to leave.
The trains on time and it’s a four hour ride to Badajoz with 8 stops. The 7th stop is Miranda. We leave the station and the train is now going backwards and so are our seats. What up????
We double check the gps & we’re heading in the right direction, must have switched tracks. One more stop.
We get a taxi to our hotel and check in. The fabulous front desk amigo upgrades us to a suite. SWEET!!!
Long day but happy we’re here & it was our last planned train ride. What a fabulous way to travel. We used up our 30 day Eurail pass and we definitely got our Euros worth.
