Day-2 Snæfellsnes Pennsula

It was a long day in the car. Good thing the weather was nice, albeit a bit windier and cooler than yesterday. Our trip took us out and around the Snæfellsnes peninsula to explore some waterfalls and small historical villages, including, Búðir, Arnarstapi, Hellnar, Dritvík, Ólafsvík, Grundarfjörður, and Stykkishólmur. Lots of historic old churches as well.

We started our day with a beautiful breakfast at the hotel.

A short drive took us out onto the peninsula where we found some great old churches with spectacular views.

A short drive further into the peninsula took us to some great cliffs and a beautiful beach area called Snaefellsbaer with a rock statue of Bardur Snelfellsas, Deity of Mt. Stafell.

We ended back at the hotel for another night where we dropped off our wives and Greg and I then drove the 2+ hours each way out and back to Keflavík airport to retrieve Ellen carry-on which had finally arrived from Minneapolis but which Islandic Air couldn’t seem to get delivered to us. We returned about 12:45am to end a looong day in the car.
