On to the tour the Chateau Frontenac and honestly we forgot what freezing eyeballs felt like 🥴

More than 600 rooms!

Our guide was tiny and very French with stories of the hotel since it was built and added on and burned and rebuilt. It was inspired by the chalets of the Loure Valley in France and definitely see the resemblance, we saw those last summer…

Look closely

Tee hee

The interior of the hotel is spectacular. So much history and great views of the city and the river.

Only $75,000 USD
Missed him by a day

So you’ve heard of the Quebec conference…no not the NHL one

The Quebec Conference was held at the hotel from October 10 to 24, 1864, to discuss a proposed Canadian Confederation. It was in response to the shift in political ground when the United Kingdom and the United States had come very close to engaging in war with each other. It united Canada and BC joined a few years later.

The Second Quebec Conference story The residents, staff, cooks and housekeepers were required to vacate the hotel for three weeks. They also cancelled thousands of guest reservations. Unbeknownst to the locals & guests in August 1943, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill arrived to gather leaders of the free world in Quebec at this hotel for meetings code-named “Quadrant.”

The stakes of the meeting could not have been higher as the leaders were meeting to resolve differences between American and British and Canadian strategists concerning “Operation Overlord” which would eventually be known to the world as the D-Day invasions.

A historic moment that sent chills..

The hotel is lovely & quite historic. Why did we not stay there? Rooms started at $800. 🤯

Instead we spent it on something more reasonable, like the local culinary specialty Poutine at a 100 year old Cafe Buade. Way better!!! Happy man!!! (Thanks Bill Gavin for recommending this fab local place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

With full tummies we bundled up & slid back down the hill to our home away from home for a lil Netflix & chill or thaw out 🥰

Tomorrow is our last full day in Quebec and we have a tour booked. On Sunday we’re taking the train to Montreal for some big city fun.

Quebec at Christmas is especially lovely, quaint and the people are so welcoming and friendly.
