That’s right, after spending 6 months on the road in 2025 (May-Oct), we’ve already got itchy feet. It’s time to get our ‘go-in drawers’ on and get outta town!!! We’re not even waiting for the new year to show up either. We are going to Quebec and Montreal CANADA for the Christmas/New Year holidays!
I know, I know – not exactly a sand and surf destination in December, right! But, hey, why not get all that cold weather out of the way early. That way we can get back to more warm and sunny climes later on in 2026 (more on that later). So, how did we pick Quebec and Montreal you ask? Well, it turns out, Jeff has a loooong family history with Quebec.
After some sleuthing, we have traced Jeff’s family tree back to monsieur Guillaume Fournier. It seems ole Guillaume was a part of the First Settlers of Quebec City back in good ole 1634! And, since the best way to get to Quebec from Phoenix is a direct flight from Phoenix to Montreal first, why not spend some time exploring that city as well. Especially since Jeff has never been to either. Of course, after our summer of fun by train around Europe, we decided to travel from Montreal to Quebec City by train. Whooo Whooo!!
Ellen has us all booked with places to stay in both cities. We’re booked for Christmas dinner and a New Year’s Day tour of Notre Dame as well. Do you have any idea how hard it’s been for me to get so organized that far into the future!! I’m still looking for my phone that was in my hand sometime this morning, but has now snuck off to God knows where!!! I think I need to have a multi-line lanyard surgically installed; kind of like one of those dog walkers with 25 dogs attached to them so I have a spot for my phone, wallet, keys, hat, sun glasses, gloves, sling bag, backpack, suitcase…you get the idea :)!
OK, so I’ve got lots of things to get organized and, HOLY CRAP, it’s already December!!!! I feel like I just finished putting all my travel stuff away and now, I can’t remember where I put a single thing! Hopefully, you’ll see me beside Ellen in some pics with lovely scenes of Canada in winter soon. That means I found my phone, wallet, passport, plane and train tickets and hadn’t (a) wandered off and missed everything, or (b) “tripped” out of the train as it went over a gorge 🙂
