In early 1897, an article in the Irish Times, headed ‘The Golf Links of Kerry’, dismissed the recently opened Ballybunion course with some contempt as “a rabbit warren below the village, where a golfer requires limitless patience and an inexhaustible supply of golf balls.”
Today I started & ended with the same ball…so proud

I love that the ladies played the course from the beginning. The history of this course is incredible.

What a glorious day with our golfing buddies Brian & Colin.

This course needs to be walked because every turn is purely magical and quite challenging for golfers. In 2025 it was awarded the 10th Best Course in the World and it is in pristine condition. It was a perfect day with no rain and lots of wind but “when it’s breezy swing easy.” Not sure we have a “saying” for when’s a gust nearly blows your club out of your hand. Maybe just HOLD ON!!!
I’ll let the course do the talking…

The par threes are so difficult. You can see the flag, and that gives a fleeting moment of hope.
Brian is a great photographer and it’s nice to see things through his eyes.
